Coleman was a Lancashire resident born in Blackpool. She attended Arnold School Blackpool, where she was able to get straight As in the A-levels she took. In a discussion about her appearance on Emmerdale Coleman acknowledged regrets that she did not go to University. Coleman when she was still in the high school system, was a student of the theatre company In Yer Space. They presented the show Crystal Clear for the Edinburgh Festival. The show also received a positive reception. She was awarded with an award for her exceptional performance. Coleman got the part as Jasmine Thomas while she was performing at drama school. It was the British Soap Awards 2009 nominated Coleman in categories: Best Actress - Sexiest Feminine as well as the Best Dramatic Performance category. Coleman got her TV Choice Awards nomination for Best Actress. Steven Moffat of Doctor Who revealed in a news meeting held on the 21st of March, 2012, that Coleman will take over the role of Karen Gillan after she and Arthur Darvill had left. Moffat picked her for the role due to how well she could work with Smith and also because she was faster at speaking than Smith. Eva's TV roles on The Dr. Maria Santos, in All My Children, and the role of Detective Natalia Boa Vista in CSI Miami make an impact. The role as the character Dr. Maria Santos on All My Children landed its two Daytime Emmy nominations. This allowed her to show off her musical talent. Eva is not only an actress, she is as well a philanthropist and businesswoman. She was married three times and also has a daughter with her first husband.
