Tina Louise was an American singer, actress, and writer who is best known as Ginger Grant from the TV series Gilligan's Island. The musical Bettle performed in Two's Company was her first acting role on stage in the 50s. In 1956, she made her big break in the stage on Broadway in Li'l Abner's musical. She also released her first album, titled It's Time to Tina in the same year. Her first appearance in Hollywood was in the role of Griselda on God's Little Acre, a 1958 film. It received wide acclaim. Louise won the Golden Globe Award under the New Star of the year category. At the time, she joined the Actors Studio in New York and formed a connection with Lee Strasberg as his student. The year 1964 saw her signing with CBS as a character, Ginger Grant. Louise maintained a successful career balancing Broadway television and Hollywood and portraying somber in contrast to her glamour-doll image had been portrayed as. Her family relocated to Toronto around the age of three. The city was her home for the duration of her childhood in Toronto and through her teenage years.
